As Trump's inauguration approaches, we must ensure our immigrant neighbors have robust legal protections! Eric Adams can’t ignore + misinterpret sanctuary laws & immigrant communities in NY. Despite existing hard-fought laws to foster safety & stability, NYPD and the NYC Dept of Corrections continue to conspire with ICE to target and deport immigrant NYers in their custody. We need Intro 214 to ensure accountability when NYers’ rights are violated.
Specifically on Intro 214 - Legislation to Protect Our Sanctuary Laws
Intro 214 will create a “private right of action”—which allows a private person to take legal action to enforce their rights — so that people wronged by violations of these laws can seek justice in court, including the payment of money.
