FFF and Judson Memorial Church supports Jean - updates

Here are some updates from the #BringJeanHome campaign following the political shifts in Haiti. We at Families for Freedom and Judson Memorial Church supports Jean Montrevil and wish for his return.

The Pardon Campaign

If you know of VA-based faith leaders or other high-level individuals in VA who haven't already agreed to write us letters or make calls, please feel free to reach out to them and cc (alina.das@nyu.edu). We already have support from the Congregation Action Network and from Rev. Barrett Owen, but would love letters from other individual faith leaders. It would be great to get these in to the Secretary's office in the next two weeks.

The First Amendment lawsuit
The judge granted us the right to pursue depositions against Director Decker and former Deputy Director Mechkowski. This is a big win for us. Notices for depositions in August are being served on the government, with requests for depositions of other individuals. This is great both for the First Amendment case itself and the negotiations for a settlement.

Our next hearing in the case is not until July 20. We are still waiting on a ruling on our motion to compel the government to remove the redactions on some of the electronic documents we received.
