Legal Support Fundraiser for NYC Migrants

On July 31, 2023, Families for Freedom embarked on a collective mission to devise a strategy for aiding incoming migrants. Upon our arrival, it became evident that these individuals not only lacked fundamental necessities such as food, water, and clothing but also lacked any long-term solutions. Migrants, driven by the desire to escape unsafe and hostile living conditions in their home countries and to start anew in the United States, found themselves facing daunting challenges. New York City, like many other states, presented formidable obstacles.

For instance, in New York City, migrants are only provided with a maximum of sixty days in the shelter system before they must seek alternative accommodation. This abrupt transition places a substantial burden on migrants who are eager to rebuild their lives in the United States. Families for Freedom, though a small yet resilient immigration organization, finds itself unable to single-handedly meet the ongoing needs of the migrants we serve. Consequently, we are in urgent need of additional funding to continue offering daily legal assistance to migrants.

We are actively raising funds to employ an attorney who can provide support in various critical areas, including citizenship applications, legal representation in court, work authorization applications, petitions for individuals suffering from domestic violence, temporary protected status applications, and legal representation in asylum cases. Your contributions would be immensely appreciated in furthering our mission.
